OLD TOUSSIAN BRONZE AMULET TALISMAN FETISH RING - MALIA Toussian bronze of flared conical shape with applied twisted rope design.The actual symbolism of this piece is unknown, however, it is probable that this ring was worn as a protective amulet; women wear various pieces of body adornment for their protective powers as they consider them to be powerful amulets protecting them from a diversity of things.This amulet ring has been cast using the lost wax method, which involves creating a model in beeswax. Once completed, wax rods are attached to it and the entire model is encased in layers of fine clay. The structure is heated and the melted wax runs out through the channels (wax rods), molten metal is poured into the mold (created after wax was lost) the metal cools and hardens, the mold is broken and the piece has been created. Each piece is an original since the mold is broken after each one has been cast.Nice patina - Collected in Burkina Faso.
