Old Chinese Spinach Nephrite Jade Pendant Amulet C1880 Incredibly Well Carved andrewcrossleyantiques store OLD CHINESE SPINACH NEPHRITE JADE PENDANT AMULET c1880 INCREDIBLY WELL CARVED
I offer a very fine quality Chinese carved spinach green nephrite jade amulet/ plaque which we acquired from private collector of Imperial Chinese ceramics in the Netherlands, we are of the opinion that the piece dates to the late nineteenth century to the reign of Emperor Guanxu c1880-1900. The spinach jade plaque of high quality of rectangular form extremely intricately carved and pierced to both sides with deer amidst ling-chih fungus underneath the gnarling canopy of a pine tree, the branches of the pine tree surmounted by mythical feng huang birds, the carved panels within a border of key fret or thunder pattern diaper, with two holes for the amulet/ plaque to be worn on a cord. The piece measures 2 ¼ inches long by 1 ½ inches wide and is 7/16 of an inch deep. This pierced piece was purchased from a private collection of high end Chinese ceramics, bronzes and hard stones in the Netherlands.
